From around March 2004 through August of 2008, my wife and I were fulltimers. You can see our RV at: RV Mobile Office for Fulltiming. We are Tom Donaldson and Kay Jones.
The DMV of the USA state of Oregon uses "Continuous Traveler" as a street address for residents who no longer have a fixed address. When my wife and I moved out of the house we had been renting and into our RV, "Continuous Traveler" became our official Oregon DMV street address.
"Continuous Traveler" was printed on our drivers licenses as the street address.
As you can see from the Development History, from mid-2006 through mid-2009 ContinuousTraveler.com was a hobby. I started it while we were fulltiming, and continued it after we bought a house.
But, the economy went wacko. We needed to find a source of income, and we had just trapped ourselves in a house in an very small isolated community. What to do? Well, all I really know how to do, or want to do, is develop software. Time to see if I can make my hobby support us, or at least acquire skills that would allow me to do contract/consulting work from here on the Southern Coast of Oregon.
When we first moved to Brookings, Oregon, in 2002 I had intended to do consulting or custom sofware development. I incorporated MacTom, Inc. I had let it lapse in about 2004. But, IRS said the company was still on record, and Oregon only needed the usual annual fee to revive it. I revived it.
Turns out that naming a software company "MacTom" was a bad move! The "Mac" in MacTom, Inc., steps on Apple's toes if I use it in doing computer related business. Cannot use "MacTom".
Thus is born ContinuousTraveler.com, Inc. I registered ContinuousTraveler.com, Inc., as an alias for MacTom, Inc., with the state of Oregon. The real business name is "MacTom, Inc., DBA ContinuousTraveler.com, Inc." Quite a mouthful.
But, except for this explanation of what ContinuousTraveler.com is, I cannot publicly use "MacTom". So, forget I told you this ...
