Shared Controls

The controls in common between the list and map displays include:

Undo/Redo Search:

Left arrow backs up the search results to the previous search. After an Undo, the right arrow is enabled, and will move forward by one set of search results.

Selet List or Map:

Displays RV parks either as a textual list or as pins on a map. You may freely flip back and forth between the two types of display.

Search At Me:

The left half of the segmented control on the right side of the navigation bar is a person icon. It is enabled when ever the iPhone® location services are enabled. Pressing the "Search At Me" button does a search for RV parks at or near your current location, based on Search Settings.

Search Settings:

The icon on the left side of the toolbar pops up search settings that allow you to control the type of search, as well as distance and direction of search.

App Settings:

The gear icon to the right of the toolbar navigates to the settings pages for the CT RVParks application. Here you can change the display format of GPS coordinates; set the account information for getting database updates; and so on.

RV Parks List

The list display presents RV park search results in an easy to read textual format. The list can be displayed even when you do not have an Internet connection.

Clicking anywhere on an item in the list other than the blue disclosure button will do a "At GPS" search centered on the location of the park in the item.

RV Park List Sections

The list is split into two sections. The first section lists parks "At" the focal point of the search.

The second section lists parks "Near" the focal point of the search. The focal point of the search (the center of the search) is set using Search Settings or via the map.

The list display presents RV parks as pins on a map.

Map-only controls:

Search At Center GPS:

The map adds or enables the "Search At Center GPS" button on the right side of the navigation bar. This search at GPS button will perform a search at the coordinates of the center of the map. If the GPS search button is not displayed, move the map slightly so that there is a new center on which to search.

Map Type:

Select regular road map, satellite imagery, or a hybrid that shows both satellite imagery and roads.

Search At Center GPS

As noted above, the Map has a special control for searching. Tapping this control does a Search At GPS without having to press the Search Settings button first.

It uses the current Search Near settings from Search Settings, but supplies the GPS coordinates of the center of the map for the Search At GPS coordinates.

So: slide the map, tap the Search At Center GPS button.

RV Park Pin Types

Green pins are RV parks selected by the "At" settings in the Search Settings. This roughly corresponds to using green for starting points. These green pins also the RV parks that are listed in the "At" section of the RV park list.

Red pins are RV parks selected by the "Near" settings in the Search Settings. This roughly corresponds to using red for destination points. These "red" RV parks also show up in the "Near" section of the RV park list.
