Maps vs. Text

Modes

You can use ContinuousTraveler.com in one of two modes of operation: Maps or Text. Each has its advantages, and will be useful in different situations as you travel in your RV.

You can switch modes using the Maps | Text  menu selections at the top center of each page.

Maps

Maps mode uses Google maps to find and display RV parks, create and display trips, and add new RV parks to the database. If you know how to use Google maps, you already know most of what you need to know to use Continuous Traveler in Maps mode.

For example, you can use the map to zoom to an area, then click the "Find" button to see RV parks near that location, as this example shows:

Play around with it. Click on the map, drag it around, double-click on the map. When RV park icons are displayed, click on them for more information, including links to more information and for web sites for the individual RV parks.

Maps mode uses a lot of downloaded graphics and scripts. Therefore it requires a fairly fast Internet connection. It should be useable with any decent Wi-Fi connection. It will probably not be very usable on a dial-up connection.

Note that Maps mode displays all the same textual information as does Text mode, in addition to maps. Just above the map, and below the page title, you will see check boxes for turning the map and the text on and off.

You can speed up some pages by turning off one or the other when you do not need them both. Just check the one that you want, and uncheck the other, then click the Selected => button.

If you are using Continuous Traveler in Maps mode and it is too slow even with text display switched off, try switching to Text mode via the menu at the top of the page.

Text

Text mode is a "classic" Web interface that has no graphics other than the logo, and uses little or no downloaded scripts. Text mode is essential if you find yourself with a slow Internet connection.

You should have a road map handy when you use Text mode.
